DEAN’S ANNOUNCEMENT

regarding the opening of the “UGrants-start” competition

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk announces a call for applications for the UGrants – START competition under the Small Grants Programme – UGrants.

The aim of the competition is to support doctoral students of the doctoral schools of the University of Gdańsk in carrying out scientific and research work, in particular with regard to increasing the number of publications in prestigious academic journals and publishing houses.

Application deadline
Applications must be submitted by 15 December 2025.

Eligible applicants
An application may be submitted by a doctoral student of the Doctoral School at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk whose education at the school has not exceeded eight semesters and who has not been a laureate in two or more editions of the UGrants-start competition.

Grant amount and purpose
The winner of the competition will receive a grant of up to 10,000 PLN.
Funds may be used to cover costs necessary for preparing and publishing research results, in particular for:
• materials and minor equipment,
• external services,
• business trips,
• research visits and consultations,
• other costs related to the implementation of the project.

Application submission rules
The completed and signed application must be submitted electronically (a scan of the signed application or an application signed with a qualified electronic signature or trusted profile) to the following email address: rada.szkola.doktorska.we@ug.edu.pl.
The subject line of the email should include the name of the competition.

Competition results
The results of the competition will be announced by 30 January 2026.

Dean’s decision
Information about the Dean’s decision regarding the competition outcome will be provided to the applicant individually – in written or electronic form.

Condition for settlement of participation in the competition
A condition for settling the awarded grant is submitting to the Dean’s Office, by 31 January 2027, confirmation that the manuscript of the publication has been submitted to the editorial office of a scientific journal indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) or Scopus database.

INFORMATION CLAUSE ON THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation of 27 April 2016, hereinafter referred to as GDPR, we inform you that:

  1. The controller of your personal data is the University of Gdańsk, located at Jana Bażyńskiego 8, 80-309 Gdańsk.
  2. The Controller has appointed a Data Protection Officer, who can be contacted at (58) 523 31 30 or via email: iod@ug.edu.pl. The Data Protection Officer may be contacted in all matters concerning the processing of personal data and the exercise of rights related to data processing.
  3. Your personal data will be processed for purposes related to applying for funding within the Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) programmes and their implementation.
  4. The legal basis for processing your personal data is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR – the consent of the data subject.
  5. Providing your personal data is voluntary but necessary for achieving the objectives specified in point 3. Failure to provide data will result in the inability to apply for funding and to participate in and implement programmes related to IDUB objectives.
  6. Your personal data will be processed on behalf of the Controller by authorised employees solely for the purposes indicated in point 3.
  7. Your personal data will be stored for the duration necessary to achieve the objectives specified in point 3. In the case of unfunded applications, personal data will be stored for a period compliant with archival regulations.
  8. Your personal data will not be shared with external entities except as required by law. If application documents are submitted electronically, the recipient of your data may be an entity acting on behalf of the Controller, i.e., the operator of the postal service.
  9. Under the terms of the GDPR, you have the right to:
    1. access your data,
    2. rectify your data if it is inaccurate,
    3. erase your data, restrict its processing, and transfer it – in cases provided for by law,
    4. object to the processing of your data,
    5. lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority – the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, if you consider that the processing of your data violates data protection regulations,
    6. withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.
