1. I have a foreign high school diploma. Who should I contact?

Candidates with documents entitling them to study issued outside Poland should contact the Recruitment Office or Foreign Studies Office employees, depending on the qualifications and the issue.

2. What documents entitle you to take up studies and a degree?

Secondary education and the right to apply for higher education are confirmed by certificates and other documents that entitle you to apply for admission to higher education in the countries where they were issued (following Article 93 of the Education System Act).

Regarding certificates issued in countries where secondary school leaving exams are held (qualifying for taking up studies), the candidate must provide the results and the secondary school leaving certificate to convert the results to the Polish grading scale.

 

3. I am a foreigner with a Polish Card. Does this document exempt me from paying tuition fees?

Foreigners who have a Polish card, among other things, are entitled to undertake higher education under the terms applicable to Polish citizens.

Note: All candidates are subject to a fee for part-time studies and studies in a foreign language (English).

 

4. I have Polish citizenship but took my high school leaving exams abroad. How do I start the recruitment process?

All candidates who have documents entitling them to undertake studies issued outside Poland, regardless of citizenship, must create an account in the IRK system, enter personal data, select the document "foreign high school leaving exam", and then upload scans of the required documents to the system to apply for admission to studies. After verification and calculation of the results, the candidate will be admitted to the recruitment process and enrolment in the selected fields of study. However, Polish citizenship exempts from the obligation to present a document confirming knowledge of the Polish language at least at the B1 level (in the case of applying for admission to studies conducted in Polish).

 

5. I am a foreigner but took my high school leaving exams in Poland. Do I have to undergo initial verification?

All candidates with documents entitling them to undertake studies issued in Poland, regardless of citizenship, must, to apply for admission to studies, create an account in the IRK system, enter personal data, select the document "matura 2008-2024", choose the field of study of interest and, when registering for the field, enter the results of individual subjects on the high school leaving exam.

On the other hand, persons without Polish citizenship, if they have documents exempting them from fees for full-time studies conducted in Polish, must submit these documents to the recruitment committee at the faculty at the stage of submitting documents.

 

6. What documents confirm knowledge of the Polish language? Can you pass the UG exam?

You can also pass a Polish language exam at the University of Gdansk. The condition for taking the exam is to pay the recruitment fee of PLN 85.00 to the account in the IRK system and enrol early enough to take an examination.

7. When do I have to present a document confirming my knowledge of English?

Candidates who apply for admission to studies conducted in English, based on documents issued outside Poland, regardless of citizenship, must present a document confirming knowledge of English at least at the B2 level.

As in the case of the Polish language, it is possible to pass an English language exam at the University of Gdansk. The condition for taking the exam is to pay the recruitment fee of PLN 85.00 to the account in the IRK system.
