Mid-program Evaluation
Mid-program Evaluation
The implementation of the individual research plan is subject to a mid-program evaluation halfway through the education period specified in the curriculum. The evaluation result, along with its justification, is public. The mid-program evaluation may result in either a positive or negative outcome.
The mid-program evaluation is carried out by a three-member committee, including at least one person holding a postdoctoral degree (doktor habilitowany) or the title of professor in the discipline in which the doctoral student is preparing the dissertation, employed outside the entity running the doctoral school. The supervisor and the auxiliary supervisor cannot be members of the committee.
The committee determines whether the doctoral student conducts research in accordance with the submitted research plan, in particular with the schedule for preparing the doctoral dissertation. If the research is consistent with the submitted plan, the evaluation result is positive and the committee prepares a justification of the evaluation.
If the research is not consistent with the submitted plan, the committee assesses whether the explanations provided regarding the reasons for not completing the research plan are duly justified and documented, and whether the proposed corrective actions ensure the implementation of the plan and allow for the completion of education at the doctoral school (submission of the doctoral dissertation) within the deadline specified in the research plan. If completing the education is possible, the result of the evaluation is positive. Otherwise, the result is negative.
