The Department of Transport Policy and Economic Integration (KPTiIG) at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk is a research and teaching unit with a long-standing tradition in both research and education. Its activities focus on conducting research related to transport policy, logistics, and economic integration processes, both at the national and international levels, as well as educating students in these fields. The department is headed by Dr. Ryszard Rolbiecki, Associate Professor at the University of Gdańsk.

The founders of the department were students of Professor Lucjan Hofman, a full professor with a doctoral degree. The department was established in 1990 as part of the educational system reform, becoming one of five departments specializing in Transport and Logistics. In October 2023, members of the former Department of European Integration (graduates of Prof. Andrzej Stępniak, PhD) joined the Department, leading to its name being changed to the current one, reflecting its expanded composition.

The staff of the Department conduct research on a wide range of issues related to both transport and economic integration. In the area of transport, the research covers various aspects of sustainable transport development, modern technologies in logistics, transport infrastructure development, the integration of transport with other sectors of the economy, and the impact of transport policy on the economy. In the field of economic integration, the Department's team focuses on research concerning the economic aspects of the functioning of the European Union, the internal market, economic policies, including competition policy and state aid, regional policy, and the mechanisms of international cooperation on the European stage.

The department collaborates with numerous domestic and international academic institutions, as well as businesses and research organizations, which allows for a combination of theory with practice and addressing current market challenges.

The department's educational offer includes a broad range of subjects, providing students with the opportunity to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for working in various fields of economic life. The department places strong emphasis on interdisciplinary education, enabling graduates to thrive in companies with diverse profiles, both in the public and private sectors.

Within the Department, the undergraduate program in International Economic Relations offers the specialization "Projects in International Business." In the 2023/2024 academic year, students from this specialization won first place in the national Project Management Knowledge Olympiad organized by the Polish Chapter of PMI (Project Management Institute), an international project management organization.
