Academic Meeting 13.05.2023

On May 13, 2023, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk hosted an Academic Meeting as part of the project “Talented from Pomerania – University of Gdańsk”.

The topic of the meeting was “Habits of effective action, or how to manage yourself in time”, and its participants were secondary school students from all over the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

As part of the meeting, students learned and practically practiced many elements in the field of one of the important skills in the area of social competences, i.e. time management skills. The classes included theoretical and practical foundations of time planning issues, as well as reaching compromises in this area.

Participants worked both individually and in teams. At this stage, differences in individual perception of time were revealed, the need to adapt one's schedules to the needs of not only oneself, but also others, as well as to take into account elements that are often not taken into account as part of time management.

The classes included a lecture presenting the time management process to the participants and a workshop on setting goals. Based on the techniques and methods of planning and time management that they learned, the participants developed their own set of methods for dealing with time management habits.

The active form of the classes was conducive to building communication skills in teamwork, and all participants were involved in all the numerous tasks during the workshops.

The instructors wish all participants to achieve their goals, manage their time effectively and take on interesting challenges!

The workshops were prepared and led by:

dr Magdalena Markiewicz and mgr Przemysław Wysiński from the Department of International Business at the Faculty of Economics.

Cooperation in building social competences as part of the "Zdolni z Pomorza" program was an initiative of dr Magdalena Markiewicz, deputy dean for cooperation with the socio-economic environment at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk.

Time management is a valuable competence that we usually practice throughout our lives.

It is worth adding that during studies at the Faculty of Economics, students of the Polish-language majors "Economics", "International Economic Relations", as well as English-language majors "International Business" and "Logistics and Mobility" learn many aspects of time management.

This applies not only to time planning during the study process itself, but is also the subject of analysis and improvement of knowledge and competences within such subjects as an important supplement to economic knowledge, such as (depending on the specialization or specialization module):

"Project Management", "Project Evaluation and Control, Projects in Practice", "International Project Management", "Business Projects in Practice", "Project Management Methods and Techniques", "Project Management in an Enterprise", "Business Design", "Project Management" or "Project Management in an Enterprise".
