Encountering Business Practice - A Study Visit to the Gdańsk Entrepreneurship Incubator STARTER

On 16 April, a group of students from the Faculty of Economics - members of the START-UP Scientific Student Club and participants of the course "Start-up: A Laboratory of Success" - took part in a study visit to the Gdańsk Entrepreneurship Incubator STARTER.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn how a startup-supporting environment operates in practice. Representatives of the Incubator walked them through the process of founding and developing young companies - from the initial idea, through its validation, to market launch. Participants also gained insight into the significance of mentoring, acceleration programmes and collaboration within coworking spaces, all of which foster the exchange of experience and the building of professional networks. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the Incubator as a place that not only provides infrastructural support, but above all helps young entrepreneurs develop their competencies and minimise business risk.

A highlight of the visit was a meeting with Krzysztof Warda, co-founder of Alto Labs PSA - a company known for developing modern IT solutions supporting workforce time management, working hours tracking and HR process organisation, including the eGodziny platform. Students had the opportunity to learn about his experience of running his own business and the challenges that arise at various stages of a company's development. The conversation touched on the importance of flexibility, the ability to adapt to market needs and the use of digital technologies in streamlining management processes. Participants also gained a practical understanding of how IT solutions supporting workplace organisation are created and scaled within enterprises.

The visit proved to be a valuable educational experience, allowing students to confront theoretical knowledge with the realities of contemporary business and inspiring them to pursue their own entrepreneurial initiatives.
