Study visit of the students of Logistics in PESA Bydgoszcz

On 5 May, fourth-semester Master’s students in Economics, Logistics specialisation, took part in a study visit to PESA Bydgoszcz S.A. The group was supervised by mgr Anna Michalska-Szajer from the Department of Transport Market.

The aim of the trip was to familiarise students with the practical aspects of modern and sustainable rail and urban transport, as well as with the process of designing and manufacturing rail vehicles. The visit provided an opportunity to compare the knowledge acquired during academic classes with the practical operations of a company active in the rail transport sector.

During the visit, the students learned about the successive stages of rail vehicle production, from material preparation and sheet metal processing, through the assembly of components, to the final product. The opportunity to follow the process “from a piece of sheet metal to a finished vehicle” allowed the participants to better understand the complexity of producing railway and urban rolling stock. The students also had the opportunity to view a vehicle from the driver’s perspective and learn about selected technological solutions used in modern rail transport.

During the meeting, current trends in the rail vehicle market were also discussed, with particular emphasis on innovation, efficiency and sustainable development.

The study visit to PESA Bydgoszcz S.A. was a valuable addition to the educational process. It enabled students to come into direct contact with modern transport technologies and deepen their knowledge of the role of innovation and sustainable development in the functioning of contemporary transport.
