On June 11, 2025, a study visit organized by the Logistics Students Club took place at PGZ Naval Shipyard in Gdynia, one of the key companies in Poland’s defense sector and a member of the Polish Armaments Group.

The visit provided a unique opportunity to learn about the specifics of the shipbuilding industry in the context of repairs and the construction of naval vessels, as well as to gain direct insight into modern projects carried out by the shipyard. The central point of the visit was a presentation of the assumptions of the "Miecznik" program, which involves the construction of three modern multi-role frigates for the Polish Navy: Wicher, Burza (both currently under construction) and Huragan (planned for a later stage of the program).

The “Miecznik” frigates are based on the Arrowhead 140 design, developed by the British company Babcock International. Polish engineers and specialists are adapting the project to the operational needs of the Polish Armed Forces, incorporating the latest technologies in combat systems, radar, weaponry, and missile defense capabilities. The program not only contributes to the modernization of the Polish Navy, but also stands as a prime example of advanced industrial-defense cooperation.

During the visit, participants toured the shipyard premises, familiarized themselves with its technical facilities and production processes, and gained insight into the scale and complexity of the projects carried out at the site. Students were particularly impressed by the combination of longstanding tradition and cutting-edge technology, as well as the professional approach of the team engaged in the development of defense projects.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the representatives of PGZ Stocznia Wojenna: Ms. Natalia Kasprowicz (Marketing Specialist), Mr. Andrzej Wojtkiewicz (Commercial Director), and Ms. Paula Skawska (Tendering and Settlement Support Specialist) for their openness, professionalism, and inspiring discussions that allowed students to explore logistics from both strategic and industrial perspectives.
