Study visit to the J.J. Darboven headquarters on April 11, 2025.

The Department of Sustainable Market Processes continues its fruitful collaboration with the coffee, tea, and chocolate producer J.J. Darboven, which has been operating in accordance with the principles of sustainable development for many years, even before the term became popular in Poland.

Several students from the IB and MSG programmes at the Faculty of Economics, University of Gdańsk, along with Dr. hab. Anna Maria Nikodemska-Wołowik, Professor at UG, visited J.J. Darboven in Rumia, on 11 April 2025. During the visit, the hosts presented four main topics:

  1. Examples of many years of intensive implementation of the CSR concept on an international scale.
  2. Coffee as J.J. Darboven's flagship product in the supply chain, with an emphasis on sourcing raw materials and the production process.
  3. Relationships with B2B partners, including training for baristas.
  4. J.J. Darboven's activities in promoting horse-riding culture.

In addition to the meeting over a cup of exquisite coffee in the office area, we toured the continuously improved, modern coffee roastery with an impressive 60 kg bean roaster, the storage area, the service hall, and the facilities belonging to the hosts on the premises: a stud farm for 60 horses, an apiary, and a boutique 3-star hotel owned by J.J. Darboven.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to President Maciej Matynia, Ms. Dorota Krzyk-Kidybińska, and Mr. Dariusz Wasielewski for inviting us to J.J. Darboven and providing us with a wealth of valuable information about this unique business, which combines the production of high-quality beverages with a passion for horse-riding.
