Programme name:

Project description:
The aim of the project “Zatoka Wiedzy - developing ecological competencies of society through education” is to implement long-term activities in the field of ecological education aimed at school youth, tourists and students of various universities as well as residents and tourists staying at the Bay of Gdańsk to increase their knowledge about the Baltic Sea environment, threats, protection and methods of sustainable use of ecosystem services.
The activities are planned for 19 months, from May 2024 to October 2025.
They include: organisation of the Sustainable Development Day celebrations addressed to school youth from primary and secondary schools from the Pomeranian Voivodeship (“I respect resources - I save, I don't throw away”), preparation of a series of lectures and debates “Academy on the beach”, the recipients of which will be people relaxing on the beaches of the Bay of Gdańsk in the summer, and a practical course “Ichthyology of the sea” conducted by the Marine Station named after Professor Krzysztof Skóra.
The advantages of the proposed project are: an interdisciplinary approach, resulting from the involvement of many UG faculties in the project, the inclusion of scientific groups related to environmental issues operating at the University of Gdańsk in the work related to the organization and implementation of the project, as well as basing initiatives on areas of activity in which the UG has extensive experience and numerous successes. It is also important to use and present to the participants the potential of the University, as well as interesting and practical knowledge in the presented areas.
