Collaboration Between the Faculty of Economics UG and Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences within the Intensive Digital Marketing Course
In the summer semester, third-year students of the International Marketing specialization at the Faculty of Economics UG and students from Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences jointly completed a two-part course titled Intensive Digital Marketing, carried out within the framework of short-term mobilities under the Erasmus+ programme. The coordinator of this collaboration on behalf of the Faculty of Economics was Prof. Joanna Bednarz.
The first stage of the project took place in Sopot from March 31 to April 4, 2025. During this time, we hosted students and academic staff from Germany: Prof. Jan Millemann and Dr. Fabian Schmitz. A highlight of this stage was a practical workshop on SEO and SEM conducted by experts from the company JohnnyBros.
At the end of the stay in Sopot, the participants were divided into international project teams and began work on their chosen topics:
- Eco-Friendly Freight Shipping/Transport Exchange
- A Company Helping Young Individuals Find Their Right Educational Path
- Sustainable Behaviour App (Carbon X)
- Independent Filmmaking Crowdfunding Campaign
- Sustainable-Friendly Shopping App
The second part of the course took place from May 19 to 23, 2025, in Nordhausen, where students continued their project work. They also developed their concepts during workshops based on the Design Thinking methodology, led by Prof. Joanna Bednarz and Dr. Aleksandra Aziewicz. Students had the opportunity to conduct interviews with personas, identify the needs of potential users, develop app or business model concepts, and then prepare prototypes and test them. Dr. Marcin Krzaczek’s classes focused on e-commerce, storytelling, and viral marketing, further enhancing the practical competencies of the participants.
Thanks to the commitment of Dr. Jenny Ettrich from the International Office at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, students also took part in a rich cultural programme, including a guided tour of Nordhausen, tastings of local specialties, and various integration activities during their free time. A particularly interesting experience was the visit to the university’s business incubator, where lecturers and experts support the development of student start-ups, as well as to the neuromarketing lab, where participants could experience shopping in virtual reality.
This joint mobility is another outcome of the long-standing collaboration between the Faculty of Economics UG and Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and is fully aligned with the internationalisation strategies of both universities.
