About the Department

 The Department of Transport Market has existed since 1991 and is one of the 12 departments operating at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk.

A bit of history

It was formed by merging two Departments established by prominent economists: Prof. Andrzej Piskozub, Ph.D. (Department of Transport Economics) and Assoc. Prof. Bogumił Troka, Ph.D. (Department of Economics and Organization of Railway Transport). For 30 years, the Department was led by Prof. Olgierd Wyszomirski, Ph.D., whose leadership expanded the scope of research to include issues related to the functioning of the transport market and marketing. Currently, the Department is headed by Dariusz Tłoczyński, Ph.D., an associate professor at the University of Gdańsk.

As part of our scientific and research activities, we carry out numerous expert projects that are implemented in economic practice, as well as publish monographs, textbooks, articles, and expert opinions. Some of these projects are funded through grants we have obtained, including from the European Union, the National Centre for Research and Development, the Ministry of Education and Science, or university funds.

Our scientific, educational, and organizational achievements are confirmed by the awards, state and departmental decorations we have received.

Scientific and business collaboration

The Department systematically develops cooperation with national and international academic centers and scientific societies, as well as with businesses and economic institutions.
