About Division
Division of International Financial Markets (ZMRF), operating under this name since 2013, was established in 1986 as the Division of International Monetary Relations by Prof. Edmund Pietrzak, who headed it until 2007. From 2008 to 2017, the division was led by Prof. Danuta Marciniak-Neider.
Since October 1, 2017, Prof. Iwona Sobol has been the head of the Division of International Financial Markets.
The Division staff conducts scientific research and teaching in finance, particularly international finance and financial markets. Their primary areas of interest include international settlements, banking, currency risk management, the functioning of stock exchanges and derivative markets worldwide, as well as insurance.
The Division of International Financial Markets offers courses in both Economics and International Economic Relations.
The division supervises the International Finance and Banking specialization, which is highly popular among the top students of the Faculty of Economics.
ZMRF has also created the first university dealing room project in Poland. The implementation of the project was facilitated by winning the President of the Republic of Poland's "Super Laboratory 2002" competition.
The division's staff are the initiators and co-creators of the unique LSEG Eikon Lab computer laboratory at the Faculty of Economics, in cooperation with the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG, formerly Refinitiv and Thomson Reuters). Since the 2008/2009 academic year, they have been conducting workshops and open consultations there.
ZMRF collaborates with domestic and foreign universities, banks, companies, and financial institutions, utilizing the knowledge and experience of practitioners in research and teaching.
