Visiting Professor from Kindai University Visits the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk

On 4 September 2026, a research seminar with the participation of Prof. Grzegorz Mardyła, Associate Professor of Economics at Kindai University, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, was held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk.

The seminar addressed issues within the field of behavioural economics, focusing in particular on the behavioural and cultural determinants underlying women’s labour market participation decisions and young people’s life-course preferences in Japan. In his presentation, entitled “Japan’s Female Labor Issues and Life Course Preferences of the Young,” Professor Mardyła presented the findings of his research, placing them within the context of Japan’s socio-cultural conditions.

Professor Mardyła’s visit also provided an opportunity for an exchange of academic experience in behavioural economics and for discussions on prospects for further research collaboration. The visit is expected to lead to continued cooperation between Professor Mardyła and researchers at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk: Prof. Anna Blajer-Gołębiewska, Dr Elżbieta Babula, and Dr Urszula Mrzygłód.

Professor Mardyła’s visit marks another step towards strengthening the international academic cooperation of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk in the field of behavioural economics.
