Where Theory Meets Experience

The past semester offered students of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk a unique opportunity for direct contact with business practice.

In the winter semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, the Logistics Students Club implemented the event series “Meetings with Logistics Practice”.

“Meetings with Logistics Practice” is an initiative addressed to students who wish to learn about the realities of modern logistics, understand the challenges related to supply chain management, and gain practical insights useful for planning their future professional careers. The series was addressed to the entire student community of the Faculty, and its subject matter naturally reflected the interests of those developing in the fields of logistics, forwarding, and transport.

As part of the series, 12 meetings were held, during which students had the opportunity to meet representatives of companies operating in various segments of the logistics and transport market. The events had an interactive character and included, among others, presentations, case study analyses, simulation games, decision-making tasks, and open discussions with practitioners.

The series played an important role in complementing the educational process with a practical dimension. It enabled students to establish direct contact with company representatives and learn about current challenges and development directions in logistics. Such initiatives support a better understanding of professional practice and foster conscious planning of further educational and career paths.

The culmination of the series was a study visit to PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście Sp. z o.o., which allowed students to learn about railway transport operations from an operational perspective. During the meeting with a representative of the Transport Department, participants discussed transport organization, timetable planning, train traffic coordination, and the role of logistics in ensuring the smoothness and punctuality of services. Subsequently, the students visited the rolling stock maintenance hall, where they learned about processes carried out by the Rolling Stock Department, related to vehicle maintenance and preparation for service.

A new edition of the “Meetings with Logistics Practice” series is planned for the summer semester, continuing the cooperation with industry practitioners.
We believe that future editions will bring students new perspectives, inspiration, and motivation to further shape their professional paths.
