Professor Jacek Zaucha at the 12th Polish–Taiwanese Seminar

Professor Jacek Zaucha, DSc, Head of the Department of International Economics and Economic Development at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk, represented Poland at the 12th Polish–Taiwanese Seminar, held on 3–4 November 2025 in Keelung, Taiwan. The seminar focused on marine sciences and marine technologies and was organised as part of the cooperation between the National Centre for Research and Development of Poland and the National Science and Technology Council of Taiwan.

Professor Zaucha delivered a paper entitled “Coastal Defense in Polish Marine Spatial Planning”, in which he presented Poland’s experience in marine spatial planning and in adapting coastal areas to climate change. His presentation attracted considerable interest from participants and provided a basis for discussion on the sustainable development of coastal regions. Professor Zaucha also co-chaired a session devoted to marine environmental protection.

The participation of a representative of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk in this prestigious seminar confirms the University’s strong position in international research on the maritime economy and opens up new perspectives for academic cooperation with partners from Taiwan.
