Meeting with Dr Sławomir Antkiewicz ‘Classic investment funds and innovations in the fiduciary market - how to invest using the knowledge of specialists?’
What are investment funds and what is their place in the financial market? What are the main types of investment funds? How to understand open-ended and closed-ended funds? During an expert lecture on the investment fund market, you can learn about the advantages of investment funds, the legal basis for their operation and the advanced constructions that have developed on the basis of classic open and closed-end funds. It is extremely interesting to learn about the various aspects of taxation of investments in funds and investing in securities on your own.
During the online meeting ‘Classic investment funds and innovations in the fiduciary market - how to invest using the knowledge of specialists?’ held on 20.05.2025, Dr Sławomir Antkiewicz will present this issue and will be happy to answer any questions from the audience.

The lecture is part of the Open Economic Lectures series at the University of Gdańsk. This is the 10th edition of these exceptional, cyclical meetings with economics, which take place on selected Tuesdays at 5.30 pm.
Dr. Sławomir Antkiewicz - Assistant Professor at the Department of International Financial Markets, Department of International Business at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk. A graduate of the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk. He also completed the Study of Corporate Financial Management at the Faculty of Management, University of Gdańsk. Laureate of the Scientific Award of the City of Gdańsk ‘Young Hevelius’. Awarded several times by the Rector of the University of Gdańsk. Distinguished in the C. Mrongowiusz competition “Teacher of the Year”. Awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission and the Medal of the President of the Republic of Poland for Long Service. Specialises in financial markets issues including investment funds, derivatives, creditor securities, restructuring, as well as in legal aspects of financial system regulation. Member of the Scientific Council of the Polish Economic Society and the Scientific Council of the PTE Gdańsk Branch, member of the Peer Court of the PTE National Board. President of the Board of the Polish Teachers' Union at the University of Gdańsk. Previously Secretary of the Supervisory Board (two terms of office) of the Industrial Development Agency SA. (company of ‘significant importance for the state economy’), member of the Council of the National Centre for Research and Development and expert of the National Development Council to the President of the Republic of Poland. Reviewer and member of the expert team of the National Centre for Research and Development and the National Science Centre on several occasions. Author of several books, chapters in dozens of collective publications and more than 350 articles.
