Scientific Seminar with Professor Michalis Drouvelis at the Faculty of Economics, University of Gdańsk
On 10 March 2026, a scientific seminar on behavioural and experimental economics for academic staff was held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk. The event featured Professor Michalis Drouvelis from the University of Birmingham.
Professor Michalis Drouvelis is a recognised scholar in behavioural economics. He is the author of the book „Social Preferences: An Introduction to Behavioural Economics and Experimental Research” and is actively involved in the academic community as an editor and member of the editorial boards of leading journals in economics and behavioural economics.
The seminar was organised by Prof. Anna Blajer-Gołębiewska and Dr. Elżbieta Babuła, and the opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Wojciech Bizon, Dean of the Faculty of Economics. The seminar brought together both stationary and online researchers interested in this field, as well as Faculty authorities, including Prof. Leszek Czerwonka, Vice-Dean for Research, and Dr. Magdalena Markiewicz, Vice-Dean for Development and Cooperation with the Socio-Economic Environment.
During the seminar, Professor Michalis Drouvelis presented his research, focusing on contemporary methodological standards and challenges in behavioural economics.
An important part of the event was a consultation session, which enabled in-depth discussion of ongoing research, identification of methodological challenges, and provision of expert guidance on the design and conduct of behavioural economics research. The meeting constituted a valuable contribution to the development of research competencies among the academic staff of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk.
