Second Joint COIL Project with Artevelde University of Applied Sciences (Belgium)

Second-year students enrolled in the specialisation offered by the Department of International Business at the Faculty of Economics, University of Gdańsk have launched a project implemented within the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) framework. The project is carried out in cooperation with Artevelde University of Applied Sciences in Ghent and marks the second joint COIL initiative between our institutions, prepared by Prof. Joanna Bednarz, dr Monika Grottel, dr Anna Sperska, and Len Van Renterghem.

As part of the project, students work in international Polish-Belgian online teams, analysing employability in selected sectors of the economy. They examine job advertisements and employer expectations, conduct interviews with professionals and recent graduates, and develop mind maps and reports addressing the question:
“How can a young professional best prepare for a career in an international environment?”

The project enables students to gain hands-on experience in international collaboration, develop intercultural competencies, work on projects in English, and build international networks without the need for physical mobility.
Cooperation between the two institutions continues to grow dynamically. Annual study visits by lecturers and students from Ghent to the Faculty of Economics in Gdańsk provide opportunities to exchange experiences and generate new ideas, which are then implemented through intensive and engaging joint initiatives on both sides.

The implementation of COIL projects is an important element of the Faculty of Economics' internationalization strategy, aimed at equipping students with international competencies during their studies. These initiatives strengthen the practical dimension of education and prepare graduates to operate successfully in a dynamic, multicultural business environment.
