Lecture by Prof. Eduardo Haddad from São Paulo
On April 14, 2025 at 11:30 a.m., we invite you to the lecture "Modeling the spatial and economic effects of disasters", which will be given by prof. Eduardo Haddad.
The lecture will be held in room B505 at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk.
Professor Eduardo Haddad will explore how advanced modeling tools can help us understand the economic impacts of natural and man-made disasters. Drawing from international case studies, the lecture will highlight how data and models can guide resilience efforts by quantifying economic losses and systemic effects to support effective planning and recovery strategies.
Eduardo A. Haddad is a Full Professor of Economics at the University of São Paulo, where he directs the NEREUS lab. He is affiliated with Mohammed VI University and the Policy Center for the New South. His research focuses on regional economic development, input-output analysis, and computable general equilibrium modeling, especially applied to transportation and climate change. He has held leadership roles in several regional science associations and academic positions at Oxford, Princeton, and Rutgers. Prof. Haddad holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
