Terms of participation

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE CONFERENCE "Dilemmas of the Contemporary Economy" 

 

 §1. GENERAL PROVISIONS

The provisions of these Rules apply to all Participants of the Conference. The Rules define the conditions of participation and organizational principles of the Conference "Dilemmas of the Contemporary Economy", organized by the University of Gdańsk, headquartered in Gdańsk, ul. Jana Bażyńskiego 8, 80-309 Gdańsk, NIP: 584-020-32-39, REGON: 000001330.

The Conference will take place on January 31, 2025, in Sopot, ul. Armii Krajowej 119/121.

The provisions of these Rules are an integral part of the participation application and are binding for all Participants.

Submitting an application by completing the Registration Form is equivalent to accepting these Rules.

The Privacy Policy specifies the method of data processing and is attached as Annex No. 1 to these Rules.

 

 §2. DEFINITIONS

For the purpose of these Rules, the following definitions apply:

- Rules – this document containing the terms and conditions of participation in the Conference, available at:

- Organizer – University of Gdańsk, headquartered in Gdańsk, ul. Jana Bażyńskiego 8, 80-309 Gdańsk.

- Conference – the Conference "Dilemmas of the Contemporary Economy" organized by the Organizer, taking place in Sopot, ul. Armii Krajowej 119/121.

- Registration – the process of applying for participation in the Conference by filling out the Registration Form.

- Registration Form – the form available at:

  used for the registration process.

- Registration Confirmation – a message sent by the Organizer to the email address provided by the Participant in the Registration process, confirming the participation.

- Participant – an adult individual with full legal capacity, listed in the Registration Form.

 

 §3. DATE AND VENUE

The Conference will take place on January 31, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, in an on-site format at the Faculty of Economics, ul. Armii Krajowej 119/121, 81-824 Sopot.

If, due to circumstances beyond the Organizer's control, holding the Conference in an on-site format at the designated location and time is impossible or significantly hindered, the Organizer reserves the right to cancel, change the venue, or reschedule the Conference. Participants will be notified accordingly.

 

 §4. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

Participation in the Conference requires:

1. Completing the Registration Form available on the Conference website:

2. Acceptance of these Rules.

The number of on-site Participants is limited. In case of more applications than available slots, the Organizer reserves the right to select applications that best correspond to the Conference topic.

The Organizer reserves the right to reject a submitted presentation, particularly if its topic significantly deviates from the Conference scope or if the extended abstract does not meet the expected academic standards.

Registration is completed only after confirmation is received from the Organizer via email to the Participant's registered email address.

Each Participant must personally register for the Conference.

The Organizer does not guarantee publication of articles based on conference presentations but offers the following publication opportunities:

- Participants may submit an article based on their presentation for publication in the journal Współczesna Gospodarka (Contemporary Economy), subject to the journal's guidelines and publication standards.
- More information on Współczesna Gospodarka and submission guidelines is available at:

- There are no fees for submitting or publishing articles in Współczesna Gospodarka.
- Only Participants who presented their paper during the Conference and submitted a complete article by February 24, 2025, will be eligible for publication.

 

 §5. FEES

- Participation in the Conference is free of charge.
- The Organizer provides conference materials and refreshments.
- Travel and accommodation costs must be covered by the Participants.

 

 §6. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Registration and browsing the Conference website require an internet connection via a computer or mobile device with a web browser.

 

 §7. PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES

- Participants must provide correct personal information in the Registration Form.
- Incorrect data may result in inability to participate in the Conference.
- Participants are required to read and comply with these Rules.

 

 §8. WITHDRAWAL

- Participants may withdraw from the Conference by notifying the Organizer via email no later than January 15, 2025.
- The withdrawal request must be sent to the email address provided on the Conference website.

 

 §9. COMPLAINTS

- Complaints must be submitted in writing via email or mail to the Organizer's address.
- Complaints must include the complainant's name, correspondence address, email, phone number, the subject of the complaint, event date, and justification.
- Complaints must be submitted no later than 3 days after the Conference.
- The Organizer will respond to complaints within 14 business days.

 

 §10. LIABILITY

- The Organizer is not responsible for the content of the Participants' presentations.
- The Organizer reserves the right to cancel or modify the Conference due to unforeseen circumstances.
- If the Conference is canceled, Participants will be informed promptly.

 

 §11. IMAGE AND STATEMENT USE

- The Conference will be photographed for documentation, promotional, and informational purposes.
- Participants agree to the use of their image and statements during the Conference without compensation.

 

 §12. FINAL PROVISIONS

- The Organizer reserves the right to change the Conference schedule and format.
- The latest version of the Rules, published on the Organizer’s website, applies.

PRIVACY POLICY

 

According to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of April 27, 2016, we inform you that:

  • The controller of your personal data is the University of Gdańsk, headquartered at ul. Jana Bażyńskiego 8, 80-309 Gdańsk.

  • The Data Protection Officer (DPO) has been appointed and can be contacted at (58) 523 31 30 or via email: iod@ug.edu.pl. You may contact the DPO regarding all matters concerning the processing of your personal data and your rights.

Your personal data will be processed for the following purposes:

  1. Necessary for the organization and verification of participation in the Conference, in accordance with these Rules.

  2. Necessary for fulfilling legal obligations imposed on the Organizer.

  3. Legitimate interests pursued by the Organizer, including establishing, defending, and pursuing claims, as well as for statistical purposes.

The legal basis for processing your personal data is:

  • Article 6(1)(a) GDPR – Consent of the data subject.

  • Article 6(1)(b) GDPR – Processing necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party or to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.

  • Article 6(1)(c) GDPR – Processing necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject.

  • Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – Processing necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller.

Your personal data will be stored for the period necessary to achieve the above purposes and to fulfill archiving obligations required by law. Additionally, the Organizer reserves the right to store data for the period necessary to establish, assert, or defend claims, but no longer than the statutory limitation period.

Recipients of your data may include entities authorized under the law, as well as entities cooperating with the data controller, particularly IT service providers, under agreements ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws.

Providing personal data is voluntary, but necessary to participate in the Conference.

You have the right to:

  1. Access, rectify, amend, erase, or restrict the processing of your data.

  2. Data portability and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

  3. Lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (PUODO) if you believe that the processing of your data violates the GDPR.

Your data will not be subject to profiling or automated decision-making, nor will it be transferred to third countries outside the EEA.
