The Baltic Sea as Poland’s New Energy Hub – the interview with Dr Eng Tomasz Laskowicz on Radio Gdańsk

Dr. Eng. Tomasz Laskowicz from the Department of International Economics and Economic Development at the Faculty of Economics, University of Gdańsk, was a guest on the program “Pomorze, Polska, Europa” broadcast on Radio Gdańsk.
The discussion covered key issues related to the development of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea and its impact on the regional economy.
During the interview, Dr. Eng. Tomasz Laskowicz emphasized that, despite entering the offshore market later, Poland has an opportunity to leverage the latest technologies. Planned investments include installing very high-capacity wind turbines, which could enable the creation of a modern, efficient energy system from the ground up.
The expert also highlighted the important role of seaports in the region's upcoming economic transformation. Ports such as Łeba, Ustka, and Władysławowo may become service hubs for wind farms, opening up new opportunities for local businesses and the labor market.
The conversation also addressed the importance of offshore energy for Poland’s energy security and the stability of energy supply. Offshore wind power, thanks to more predictable wind conditions, constitutes an important element of the country’s future energy mix.
