Polish seaports face a major challenge – how to reconcile economic growth with environmental protection?
The concept of green ports emerged in the 1990s as a response to the need to balance growing economic and social challenges with environmental protection. The evolution of this idea has led to the electrification of port operations, the implementation of environmental monitoring systems, the digitalization of processes, and the use of low- and zero-emission fuels.
The authors of the monograph Polskie porty morskie na ścieżce realizacji koncepcji green ports (Polish Seaports on the Path to Implementing the Green Ports Concept) analyze practices applied in global ports and the ways they can be implemented in Poland’s four main ports. They present strategies for reducing pollutant emissions, actions in line with sustainable development, and provide concrete solutions for the transport industry.
