New Technologies in Business Practice. Inspiring Lectures with Accenture on the Metaverse and AI
In May 2025, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk hosted representatives of Accenture, who, as part of a long-standing collaboration with the university, delivered two exceptional lectures in English, dedicated to current technological trends in management and business.
May 20, 2025, Change Management and Organizational Transformation in Practice
The first lecture, organized for second-year students of the International Business program, was conducted by Ms. Kasia Maryniuk, Management Consulting Manager in the Talent & Organization area at Accenture.
The session, entitled "How to effectively lead organizational transformation – methods and trends", was interactive and included workshop elements.
Students had the opportunity to explore the fundamental principles of change management and the role of the human factor in transformation processes, current challenges related to the most commonly implemented organizational changes, an approach to planning and implementing change with stakeholder analysis in mind, ways of engaging employees in transformation processes, the importance of data and AI tools in evaluating the effectiveness of change, and the role of psychological safety and openness as foundations for lasting behavioral change in organizations.
May 27, 2025 – The Metaverse and Extended Reality in the Business of the Future
The second lecture, addressed to first-year International Business students, students of International Economic Relations (specialization: International Finance and Banking), and participants of English language courses, was delivered by Mr. Paweł Mądry, Management Consulting Associate Manager in the Communications, Media & Technology area at Accenture.
The presentation, titled “Metaverse – what is it and how will it impact our lives and global economy?”, highlighted the wide range of opportunities for using Metaverse and Extended Reality (XR) technologies in the economy.
During the lecture, participants learned what Metaverse, VR, AR, XR, and Omniverse are and how they relate to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, how businesses are already applying these technologies and what future applications are projected, what the Metaverse ecosystem looks like – from hardware and platforms to digital experiences, and what role the Metaverse plays in the development of e-commerce, the concept of Digital Twin, and post-smartphone interactions.
Both events were organized under the framework of a long-term cooperation agreement with Accenture. Ms. Iwona Gasek coordinated the initiative on behalf of Accenture, while Dr Magdalena Markiewicz – Vice-Dean for Development and Cooperation with the Socio-Economic Environment at the Faculty of Economics – coordinated it from the university side.
These lectures are part of a broader development strategy of the Faculty, aimed at educating students through direct interaction with industry professionals and familiarizing them with the latest trends in finance and management.
Both students and faculty members in attendance highly appreciated the substantive value and practical approach of the guest speakers.
These sessions not only deepened the participants’ knowledge but also inspired reflection on the future of business in an era of dynamic technological transformation.
The next lectures are already planned for the fall!
