Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning - European Experiences
An open lecture on Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning will take place on Monday, 19 October 2026, from 9:45 to 11:15, in Room C301 at the Faculty of Economics, University of Gdańsk, Sopot (119/121 Armii Krajowej Street). The lecture is organised as part of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning course.
The lecture will explore sustainable urban mobility planning, with a particular focus on European approaches to the development and implementation of EU transport policy.
Our guest speaker, Dr Marcel Rommerts, brings over 30 years of experience at the European Commission, where his work has focused on sustainable urban mobility policy, transport innovation and the CIVITAS initiative. For the final 11 years of his career at the Commission, he held a senior management position at CINEA, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency.
Dr Rommerts currently works with the European Commission in an Active Senior capacity, continuing to promote sustainable urban mobility by sharing his expertise with national and local authorities in both EU Member States and countries preparing for EU accession.
The lecture will offer valuable insights into European experiences and emerging priorities in EU transport policy. It will also provide an opportunity to exchange views on the challenges and future directions of sustainable urban mobility.
The event is open to the entire academic community. Students and staff from the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdańsk are particularly encouraged to attend, as are representatives of other universities.
We look forward to welcoming you!
