United Nations simulation during the CASMUN conference at the Faculty of Economics

A youth simulation of the UN session took place at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk in Sopot on June 7-9, 2025.

 

The Monte Cassino Model United Nations conference was the first of its kind in Sopot, a large youth conference of this nature. The event was attended by approximately. 220 participants - high school students and students interested in international politics and diplomacy.

The UN simulation is an opportunity to expand your knowledge of diplomacy, international politics and debate in English.

The opening of the conference on 7 June 2025 was graced by distinguished guests from the world of politics, diplomacy and journalism, and experienced moderators led the debates from all over Poland.

The conference was attended by the Rector of the University of Gdańsk, prof. dr. hab. Piotr Stepnowski, who gave a speech at the inauguration of the CASMUN conference.

 

The guests and speakers on the first day of the conference were: 

the President of Sopot, Ms. Magdalena Czarzyńska-Jachim, 

Secretary of State of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, Mr. Jacek Karnowski,

Vice-Governor of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Ms. Anna Olkowska-Jacyno, 

Member of the European Parliament, Mr. Janusz Lewandowski, 

Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Jarosław Wałęsa, 

Chairman of the Youth Council of the Euroregion Baltic, Mr. Jakub Hamanowicz, 

LX Mentor, Ms. Izabela Szymańska, 

CEO of Volta Poland, Mr. Stéphane Rauber, 

Chairwoman of the Youth Council of the Sopot City Hall, Ms. Aleksandra Żurańska,

Chairman of the Eventre Organisation, Mr. Krzysztof Linde, 

Director of the British International School Gdańsk, Mr. Robert Grisdale, 

Berg’s Representative, Mr. Wiktor Szychułda.

 

The participants in the event took on the roles of delegates and ambassadors of UN member states, representing them on the international forum and speaking on key contemporary world issues.

The conference aimed to disseminate knowledge about the work of the United Nations, diplomacy, and international politics, and to enhance the debating skills of young people in English.

The University of Gdańsk was the Main Partner of the CASMUN Conference.

The Faculty of Economics demonstrated its support for the conference not only by providing professionally prepared lecture halls and debate rooms, but also by offering mentoring, organisational, and marketing support for the event.
