Students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk successfully participated in the final of the Case Study Contest 2025 Ocean Network Express
We are proud to announce the participation of students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk in the Case Study Contest 2025 – Grand Finale, a competition organised in cooperation between Ocean Network Express (ONE), the University of Gdańsk and the Maritime University in Gdynia.
The final event took place on April 25, 2025, at the headquarters of ONE Gdańsk, gathering talented students from the region, university representatives, and experts from the maritime transport industry.
The Case Study Contest is an initiative that allows students to face real business challenges in the areas of logistics, shipping, and supply chain management every year. Participants work in teams to solve an operational or strategic problem, presenting their ideas to a jury composed of representatives of the academic and business world.
Three students, according to the jury, who presented the best presentations, received the main prizes – six-month paid internships at Ocean Network Express and additional awards.
The winners of the Case Study Contest 2025 were:
1st place Maksymilian Wojturski, second-year student of International Business
2nd place Oliwia Loll, third-year student of International Economic Relations, specialization: International Transport and Maritime Trade
For students, this is not only an opportunity for practical experience in an international company, but also a chance to truly enter the world of a professional career.
The event also provided an opportunity to integrate the academic community with the business sector and exchange experiences between students and industry practitioners. From the university's perspective, this is further evidence of the importance of partnership relations with the socio-economic environment in shaping the development paths of young people.
This year's edition of the final was not only proof of the high level of substantive preparation of the participants, but also their creativity and innovative approach. The students presented their perspective on the challenges of the shipping industry, proposing specific solutions that were met with great appreciation by the jury and organizers.
The jury consisted of: Michael Cooper, Director of RPC, Stephan Hampfe, Head of Port Operations, Ewa Cetner, Head of H&R & GA, Marek Furtak, Manager of Port Operations, Adrian Groman, Team Leader Port Operations, Dr hab. Sambor Guze, Prof. UMG, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Gdynia Maritime University, Dr Magdalena Markiewicz, Vice-Dean for Development and Cooperation of the Faculty of Economics, University of Gdańsk. Karolina Sas-Bojarska, Senior HR Advisor, was responsible for organising the competition on behalf of ONE.
We would like to congratulate all participants and extend our special appreciation to the winners of the final.
We also would like to thank our partners, Gdynia Maritime University and Ocean Network Express, for co-creating inspiring and valuable educational initiatives.
We look forward to the subsequent editions of the competition and to the continued success of our students in the business, logistics, and maritime transport sectors.
