On March 28, 2025, third-year students of the International Business undergraduate program at the Faculty of Economics, University of Gdansk, had a unique opportunity to participate in a special workshop as part of the Diplomatic Protocol course taught by Prof. Krystyna Zoladkiewicz. The guest speaker was Bogumiła Wiecław – a distinguished figure in Polish diplomacy, former long-time Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister-Counsellor at the Polish Embassies in Finland, the USA, and Australia.

Ms. Wiecław led a four-hour intensive session, fully dedicated to the topics of official receptions and dress code in international settings. And one thing is clear – this was one of the most engaging and memorable classes of the semester!

Students were highly enthusiastic – they appreciated the practical approach, real-life examples from the world of high-level diplomacy, and behind-the-scenes insights into visits of heads of state, royal families, and foreign ministers. All this was delivered by someone who knows the art of protocol not from textbooks, but from decades of hands-on diplomatic experience at the highest levels.

This workshop was not only a lesson in etiquette and decorum but also a rare glimpse into the mechanisms of international diplomacy, where every detail matters. For future professionals in international business – it was an invaluable experience.
