The Institute of International Business has been publishing its scientific journal for a long period of time, which is inextricably linked with its tradition and history. The first issue dates back to the year 1973. The editor-in-chief of the first five issues from 1973 to 1980 was prof. Zenon Kamiński. Then, his function was overtaken by prof. Danuta Marciniak-Neider who performed her editorial duties from 1982 to 1993. In 1997, after a short break, the publishing process was resumed and prof. Hanna Treder was the editor-in-chief till 2011. In 2012, Dr Urszula Mrzygłód became a new editor-in-chief. From 2013 till 2018 this function was performed by Dr Katarzyna Bałandynowicz-Panfil and from 2018 till 2019 dr Joanna Adamska-Mieruszewska. Since 2013 there is a new name of the journal – the International Business and Global Economy (previously: Working Papers of the Institute of International Business University of Gdansk).

The journal's profile refers to the problems of the contemporary world economy. The issues raised in the articles concentrate on the international market development, organization and management of business processes and financial market performance.

The journal contains scientific articles written by the academicians employed in the Institute of International Business and the authors representing numerous Polish and foreign academic centers. As the editorial board, we are open to new articles presenting research results within the scope of our journal's profile. We kindly encourage individual authors and academic centers to cooperate with us.

The editorial board informs that since 2014 electronic form is the original version of our journal.

The journal can be found in the following databases: ERIH PLUS, EnocLit, EBSCO,  BazEkon, Index Copernicus, Norwegian Social Science Data Services (NSD), Portalu Czasopism Naukowych (ejournals.eu), Bibliotece Internetowej PWN (ibuk.pl), CEON Bibliotece Nauki, Google Scholar, ZBD.

Polish Economic Society Gdansk Department has assumed the honorary patronage over the International Business and Global Economy Journal

  • The end of December 2017 marks the closure of a 1.5-year project financed under the Minister of Science and Higher Education’s funding programme for tasks related to disseminating science through publishing activity. The project included tasks related to publication development by modernization, digitization, internationalization and continued action for high-quality research. As part of the project, we created a new, fully searchable website for the journal, now available on an open-access basis and licenced for CC-BY-SA. The action to promote our journal has allowed us to engage with more international Authors, Reviewers and Editorial Board members. The texts we publish are mostly in English which makes for a wider readership both at home and abroad. Thanks to the top quality of our project work, we have secured the patronage of the Polish Society of Economics (Gdańsk Division). We also spread the word of IBage through promotional materials and presence in scientific databases. Our logo shows our direction – we are poised to grow to become a platform for the exchange of knowledge and research in the era of international business.

  • Due to new challenges faced by science and publishing markets, modern scientific journals should be regularly updated. Our journal International Business and Global Economy is constantly rising to this challenge. In 2012, we changed its graphic layout. The year 2013 brought about other changes. We announced a new name of our journal, its presence in index and abstract databases as well as its greater international focus and availability. Prof. Wolfgang Kremser from Austria and Prof. Alina Hyż from Piraeus University of Applied Sciences in Greece  joined the scientific board.

  • We are even more accessible due to our presence on Portal Czasopism Naukowych (ejournals.eu), Biblioteka Internetowa PWN (ibuk.pl) and CEON Biblioteka Nauki (ceon.pl).

  • As our journal was highly evaluated in terms of its quality, it was categorized in EBSCO, one of the most popular international electronic databases of scientific journals. EBSCO is available in the majority of academic libraries, as well as in ERIH Plus database.
