Fahrenheit Science Picnic

On a sunny Sunday, May 26, 2024, students and employees of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk, together with many representatives of the academic community of Fahrenheit University (FarU), organized activities as part of the Fahrenheit Science Picnic, the main theme of which was Sustainable Development.

As in previous years, the picnic in honor of Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit - a famous physicist and inventor born in Gdańsk - took place on Góra Gradowa, surrounded by buildings that were part of the defensive fortifications of former Gdańsk and in the vicinity of the Hevelianum Center.

The location of the Fahrenheit Science Picnic in a place with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages not only refers to the scientific heritage of Gdańsk but also contributes to creating a unique atmosphere of openness to what is past and what lies ahead. The picnic organizers prepared many attractions, including quizzes, workshops, and scientific shows, which allowed children and adults to participate and learn actively through play.

The fact that people willing to participate in the event arrived at Góra Gradowa more than an hour before its opening to be sure that they would fit within the limit of 1,500 participants who could stay in the facility at the same time event venue.

The motto of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk was Green Economics with the Faculty of Economics, i.e., promoting sustainable development and environmental protection through an economic approach.

Our guests participated in the quizzes, checking general economic knowledge and awareness of financial benefits resulting from pro-ecological activities. Picnic participants could also play board games ("Queue" and "Eco-Millionaires"), solve crosswords, and color coloring books on economic, ecological, and maritime themes. The winners of individual competitions were waiting for many prizes, including UG gadgets, candies, and apples.
