Graduation ceremony in IHZ

Graduation ceremony in the Institute of International Business took place on 16th November 2012.

The ceremony was attended by the graduates of full-time and part-time studies in such specializations as: Foreign Trade (HZ), International Finance and Banking (FMiB), International Marketing Strategies (MSM), and International Business (IB).
The scenario of the event was unusual, due to a blackout, at the beginning and at the end of the ceremony, since the power supply was disabled.

The graduation ceremony was opened by the Director of the Institute of International Business, Professor Bohdan Jeliński.

Alumni were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs at the University of Gdansk, Professor Józef Włodarski and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Professor Krzysztof Dobrowolski.

 

     

 

 

The ceremony was attended by the academic professors, including the promoters of master's theses, families of alumni and the employees of secretariats.

 

 

The ceremony was graced also by the presence of a large group of sponsors, representatives of companies and institutions cooperating with the institute, who offered great prizes awarded to the best graduates. The sponsors of the awards were as follows:

A special award named Professor Edmund Pietrzak for the best master thesis in the field of finance and banking, received:

Dilemmas of exchange rate and monetary policy through the euro zone. The case of Polish, Czech and Hungarian".

The supervisor of the MA thesis was Professor Danuta Marciniak-Neider.

The Director of the Institute of International Business, Professor Bohdan Jeliński also gave congratulatory letters for active work for the community of the Faculty of Economics, and in particular for work in academic circles. Such letters were presented to:

 

  • mgr Joanna Chmielewska, mgr Izabela Szulc and mgr Szymon Mechliński of the Scientific Society “Hazet”,
  • mgr Magdalena Laskowska, mgr Michal Dominik, mgr Łukasz Dopierała, mgr Radosław Kożuchowicz, mgr Ewelina Pawlun and mgr Iwona Pfeiffer of the Scientific Society of International Finance.


The Director of the Institute of International Business, Professor Bohdan Jeliński presented statistical data characterizing the collective assessment of this year's graduates and their results in study. It is worth noting that 82% of graduates who took a job were working in the field of the finished specialization.

 

 

After handing the diplomas it came time for some memories. On behalf of the guests spoke Mr. Tomasz Surowiec, the CEO of HERMES Sp. z o. o., who told the story of passionate studying and what was most important during the study time.


 

 

On behalf of full-time graduates the study time was reminded by mgr Joanna Dulczewska, and for the extramural graduate study by mgr Marek Szymczak.

 

         

 

The Director of the Institute of International Business, Professor Bohdan Jeliński, thanked everyone for attending the ceremony, congratulated the graduates and their families for achieving good results and wished they continued learning throughout their lives, according to the modern principle of life-long learning.

Due to the fact that at the end of the ceremony again the power was turned off, group photographs were made in slightly different circumstances than it was previously planned. Certainly, it will be another reason why we will remember this unforgettable celebration!
