InfoGlobMar'13

On the June 14, 2013 in Sopot at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk took place the 5th Science Conference - "InfoGlobMar 2013". This year's edition of the conference was organized by the Institute of Maritime Transport and Seaborne Trade in cooperation with the Departments of Maritime Logistics, the Department of Information Systems, the Department of Economics and Management from the Gdynia Maritime University. The range of the topics of the conference concerned the main areas of scientific research conducted at the Institute of Maritime Transport and Seaborne Trade and Departments co-organizers. The honorary patronage over the conference was assumed by: the Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy – Sławomir Nowak, His magnificent prof. zw. dr hab. Bernard Lammek, Rector of the University of Gdańsk, His magnificent Rector of the Gdynia Maritime University – prof. zw. dr hab. Piotr Jędrzejowicz. The media patronage of the conference was taken by the magazine “Namiary na Morze i Handel” and the portal gospodarkamorska.pl The chairman of the Scientific Council was prof. zw. dr hab. Janusz Żurek.

 

In debates took part many Polish academic and scientific centres (the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the University of Zielona Góra, the University of Gdańsk, the University of Technology and Humanities in Radom, the University of Economics in Katowice, The Jan Kochanowski University (JKU) in Kielce, the University if Lodz, the University of Szczecin, the Wrocław University of Economics, the Poznań University of Economics and Business, the Gdańsk University of Technology, the Warsaw University of Technology, the Gdynia Maritime University, the Polish Naval Academy, the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University, the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, the University of Humanities and Economics in Sieradz, Powiślańska School in Kwidzyn, the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), as well as the representatives of business practice (the Management Board of the Port of Gdynia Authority SA, the Management Board of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA, Polish International Freight Forwarders Association, ALLCOM Sp. z o.o).

 

The result of the meeting are three monographs, containing the papers presented and sent at the conference:

  • A company in a global environment. Dilemmas and development directions, red. A. Oniszczuk-Jastrząbek, T. Gutowski, the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk 2013, ss. 434, ISBN 978-83-7939-001-4,
  • Contemporary issues in the development of land-sea transport systems, red. J. Dąbrowski, T. Nowosielski, the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk 2013, ss. 354, ISBN 978-83-7939-002-1,
  • IT systems in the economy, red. K. Kreft, D. Wach, J. Winiarski, the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk 2013, ss. 168, ISBN 978-83-7939-000-7. There have been published 60 articles in 20 different academic centers. As previous years, the conference was divided into plenary and thematic sessions.
 

The plenary session was dedicated to issues of international competitiveness, including a business strategy on the global market, creation and use of knowledge in international corporations, economic integration models, and a management of fiscal crisis in Euroland and artificial intelligence methods used to support banking IT systems. The interesting papers were delivered by prof. dr hab. Anna Zorska, prof. dr hab. Edward Cyrson, prof. dr hab. Eugeniusz M. Pluciński, prof. SGH, dr hab. Elżbieta Czarny, prof. dr hab. Jerzy Menkes, prof. PG, dr hab. Jerzy Balicki. The second part of the conference was held in three problem teams: Team 1 - A company in a global environment; Team 2 – Challenges and problems of maritime transport; Team 3 – IT systems in the economy.

 

As part of this year's conference, there was also a workshop devoted to improving communication and cooperation between participants in maritime processes in the Baltic Sea Region as part of the StarDust / MarChain project. There were the following project partners: Klaipeda Science and Technology Park – the leader, Business Development and Technology Transfer Corporation of Schleswig-Holstein – WTSH, Marine Systems Institute at Tallinn University of Technology, Latvia Logistic Association, Turku University, Swedish Maritime Forum, the Maritime University of Gdynia. At the end of the conference there was a gala dinner with a performance of a folk band "Kosakowianie" led by Tadeusz Korthals.
