InfoGlobMar'11

On the October 13, 2011 in Sopot at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdańsk took place the 4the Science Conference - “InfoGlobMar 2011” organised by the Institute of Maritime Transport and Seaborne Trade. The honorary patronage over the conference have been assumed by His magnificent prof. dr hab. Bernard Lammek, Rector of the University of Gdańsk. The chairman of the Scientific Council was prof. dr hab. Janusz Żurek.

 

In debates took part many Polish academic and scientific centres (the Polish Academy of Science, the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the University of Szczecin, the University of Warmia and Mazury , the University if Lodz, the University of Gdańsk, the Gdańsk University of Technology, the Maritime University of Szczecin, the Gdynia Maritime University, the Karol Adamiecki University of Economics in Katowice, the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, the Katowice School of Economics (GWSH), the WSB University in Gdańsk, the University of Business and Administration in Gdynia, The State University of Applied Sciences (PWSZ) in Elbląg, the representatives of the public administration (the Ministry of Infrastructure), and the representatives of business practice (the Polish Steamship Company, the Management Board of the Port of Gdynia Authority SA, the Management Board of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA, the Baltic General Cargo Terminal Ltd (BTDG), POLRISK- Stowarzyszenie Zarządzania Ryzykiem).

 

The result of the meeting are four publications, containing the papers presented and sent at the conference:

There have been published 42 articles in 15 different academic centres and 2 presentations of entrepreneurs.

 

Unlike previous conferences, InfoGlobMar'11 was organized in a one day. The first part of the meeting it was a plenary session (common for all participants) and was dedicated to issues of international competitiveness, globalization, corporate social responsibility and structural changes in the shipbuilding industry. The interesting papers were delivered by prof. PG, dr hab. Hanna Adamkiewicz-Drwiłło, prof. dr hab. Edward Cyrson, prof. dr hab. Janusz Żurek oraz prof. dr hab. Jerzy Bieliński.

 

The second part of the meeting was held in four problem teams:

Team 1 - A company in a global environment;
Team 2 - Challenges and problems of the maritime transport;
Team 3 – IT systems in the economy;
Team 4 – The risk of business ventures.

 

At the end of the conference there was a gala dinner.
