Professor Jacek Zaucha

Pursuant to the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Poland of November 28, 2019 Jacek Zaucha, Habilitated Doctor from the Department of Macroeconomics of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk, received the title of professor of social sciences. On October 8, 2020 the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, handed over deeds of nomination to forty eight academic teachers as well as workers of science and art, including Professor Jacek Zaucha.

Professor Jacek Zaucha is a macroeconomist and regionalist, associated with the University of Gdańsk from the beginning of his scientific career. He cooperates with the Maritime Institute. He also deals with spatial development in the Baltic Sea region. He is the author of many books and articles in prestigious magazines, such as Regional Studies, European Planning Studies, Ocean & Coastal Management, and Marine Policy. His work provided the economic foundations for spatial planning in Baltic Europe.

The professor was a scholarship holder of the universities of Oxford and Princeton, vice-chairman of the National Spatial Development Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a member of the team responsible for the development and implementation of the Baltic Spatial Development Strategy, Chairman of the Baltic Committee for Spatial Development and Planning, and a government expert for the National Spatial Development Concept. He was also one of the co-founders of the EU Territorial Agenda 2020.
