The Faculty of Economics at Baltexpo 2023

On October 12, 2023, employees and students of the UG Economics Faculty took part in the Career Day as part of the 22nd Baltexpo International Fair and Conferences organized at AMBEREXPO in Gdańsk.


Baltexpo is one of the most important events of the maritime industry in Central and Eastern Europe and a place where key entities of the maritime sector have been meeting for over 40 years to create the future of the maritime industry.

The Agenda of the Baltexpo 2023 Career Day included presentations of companies, institutions and universities.


As part of the first presentation of the Career Day, dr hab. Dorota Pyć, prof. UG, director of the Center for Maritime Economy Research at UG gave a lecture "Energy career paths" combined with the presentation of the educational offer of the University of Gdańsk, the fields of first and second degree studies and postgraduate, including the "marine" of the specialty of the Faculty of Economics, which are International maritime transport and trade  in the field of International Economic Relations and Marine offshore sectors in the field of Economics.


The event was supported by the academic staff of: dr Magdalena Markiewicz - Vice-Dean of Development and Cooperation with the Socio-Economic environment, and scientific and didactic employees from the Maritime Economy Department at the Department of Transport and Maritime Trade: dr hab. Hanna Klimek, prof.UG - the tutor of specialization International Transport and Maritime Trade in the field of International Economic Relations, dr hab. Ernest Czermański, prof.UG - head of the Maritime Economy Department and dr Małgorzata Biechnia.


In the Baltexpo 2023 University of Gdansk stand was attracting the particpants thanks to great engagement of the Faculty of Economics' students: Kacper Gierejczyk, Filip Karpik, Ada Kępczyńska, Nikola Kiszewska, Małgorzata Piernicka, Ivan Sak.


Students at UG willingly shared their knowledge of studying at the University of Gdańsk, including at the Faculty of Economics, under the specialization of International maritime transport and trade in International Economic Relations (full -time studies I and II and 2nd degree) and Marine offshore sectors in economics (second -cycle full -time studies).

Students also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the offer of employers in the maritime economy sector, gathering information and materials for the diploma theses, as well as visiting the University yacht "Oceanographer".


The event was attended by many many high school students, university students, teachers, and people looking for opportunities to work in the maritime economy sector, or looking for training offers and specialized courses, thanks to which they can complement their skills or take up employment in the maritime economy sector, as well as ready for education and wanting to check what competences they should supplement and what fields of education to undertake.


The event was accompanied by numerous planned activities, such as lectures, meetings, shows, including educational proposals of universities. The paths of visiting the stands included stands prepared by sea and airports, design companies, infrastructure contractors used in the maritime industry, military sector, offshore, start-up and SME.
