At the same time, the Rector, prof. Piotr Stepnowski recalled the current Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on mutual academic recognition of documents on education and the equivalence of degrees, signed on April 11, 2005. The agreement guarantees people who have received education in one country the possibility of continuing education in institutions of the other country.

The dean's authorities were asked to check the possibility of hiring scientists (scientific or research and teaching) from Ukrainian universities (how many, what specializations). The university plans to launch a separate, rector's subsidy fund of professors before government support programs in this area appear. We will offer professors - refugees accommodation in guest rooms at the Palace in Lezno.

The Rector also called for, following the appeal of the Ministry of Education and Science, to pay special attention to not disclosing personal data of Ukrainian citizens related to our university. Especially in the period of a growing conflict, there may be attempts to obtain personal data of Ukrainian citizens who intend or continue their education or research work at Polish universities. Such unauthorized requests may be made by persons or institutions associated with the state structures of the Russian Federation or third countries, representatives of the media or non-governmental institutions.

On Monday afternoon, a separate place will appear on the website of the University of Gdańsk, where we will post all information related to aid activities for Ukraine and its citizens undertaken at the University of Gdańsk.
