Global trends worth considering in project work:

  • Digital transformation and electronization
  • Evolution of investor communities
  • Continuous regulatory changes
  • Decreased margins in financial services
  • Increased pressure for sustainable development
  • Inflation and macroeconomic uncertainty
  • Changes in commodity markets and zero-emission
  • Data engineering development

Some market and investment considerations to keep in mind:

  • How diversity and inclusivity impact ESG globally/in different regions?
  • COP26: Last days to mitigate climate change?
  • COVID-19 worsens the ASEAN economies' recovery?
  • How can artificial intelligence impact investment management?
  • What does the end of LIBOR mean for €STR adoption?
  • Sustainable development initiatives redefine the MENA's future?
  • EU Taxonomy: Progress, data, and the future
  • Macroeconomic conditions of emerging markets in the mid-year
  • Worldwide/regional mergers and acquisitions activity
  • Economic surprises: indicators with the most significant impact on markets

Other research avenues to explore:

  • Analysis of climate/weather in the past: What is the trend in polar vortex strength over the last 30 years? Do cold periods in the winter season occur less frequently or more frequently, and why?
  • What was the impact of the pandemic on gas consumption in Europe? Are long-term consequences of the pandemic expected in gas consumption (demand change)? Comparison with other regions where lockdowns were extended.
  • Did the reduction of Russian gas supplies to Europe affect the prices of other energy sources (e.g., LNG, coal, or renewable energy)? If there is any connection, explain its mechanisms.
  • What is the role of psychology and sociology in business and the economy?
