Business that inspires
Finance is not so bad - so entitled was the first of a series of workshops, which was organized the March 9, 2017 for the students of the University of Gdansk development company Torus. The meeting took place in a complex business Alchemy in Gdansk, where the students had the opportunity to meet a real working environment of many companies, perhaps their future employers.
- The necessity of cooperation between the business and university so much is being told. We decided to act, starting from their own backyard. In the office buildings Alchemy there are placed the headquarters of many institutions and companies, especially foreign corporations. On the other side there is the campus of the University of Gdansk, where potential employees train skills for their future. So we decided to give our tenants a pretext to open its doors wider and allow students to know their actual work environment - says Monika Brzozowska from Torus.
During the first workshop of this cycle, students learned a wide range of development opportunities in the area of accounting and finance. A lot of stereotypes were fallen, eg. the "patting invoices", showing the role and the great importance of processes implemented in selected companies on the activities of these entities and their clients. Students met successively with the representatives of such entities as: Torus, State Street Bank Poland and Kemira, and the program have included presentations, discussions, visiting offices, as well as refreshments.
Starting cooperation in workshops dedicated to our students we want to bring them to the world of business and provide possibilities of practical use of acquired knowledge at the University of Gdansk - explains Iwona Kuklińska, Marketing Manager of the University of Gdansk.
Subsequent workshops will cover other rapidly growing industries, such as IT or HR and create the possibility of inclusion in the action more companies and UG students, who will have the opportunity to take advantage of this valuable experience.
